Braillex Trio

Braillex Trio - The Multi-Purpose Refreshable Braille ToolThe Multi-Purpose Refreshable Braille Tool
BRAILLEX Trio is a real multi-talent. It is at the same time a 40-cell Braille display and a Braille keyboard for external devices (PCs, off-the-shelf PDAs or mobile phones with appropriate screen readers), and a basic notetaker. All this is concentrated in a small, portable device with unique ergonomics.

Working comfort is no luxury!

Working comfort helps preventing symptoms of fatigue. Avoiding unnecessary movements increases efficiency.

  • BRAILLEX Trio's flat housing allows a relaxed sitting position even when you have the unit on a desk.
  • The ergonomic Braille keyboard is ideally positioned around the Braille display. The space bars and special function keys are located in front of the display, the Braille keys behind. The distance between the Braille keyboard and the display is only 3.5 cm (1.38").
Typically, the keyboard is either in front of or behind the Braille display. In the first case, the hand has to adopt a quite uncomfortable position for reading; in the other case you have quite a big distance between the keyboard and the display.
  • Obviously, BRAILLEX Trio, like all Papenmeier Braille displays, is equipped with the patented Easy Access Bar, a long single lever (like a space bar) situated on the front side of the device, all along the Braille display.
  • You use the joystick-like Easy Access Bar with the thumb of the reading hand. It lets you navigate around the screen without you ever taking your hand off the Braille display. You can go back and forth, up and down - or tab through a dialog box, if you switch it to interactive mode.
  • Traditionally, Braille displays have a number of function keys, on the front panel, or left and right of the display. In any case, you usually have to take your hands off the display when you navigate around the screen or interact with the computer. With the Easy Access Bar, you can execute the commands from any place on the Braille display. This means less hand movement, more comfort, higher speed, and more efficiency.
  • The newly developed seamless SingleChannel Braille display provides the highest reading comfort: Your fingers slide like on paper on the slightly concave display that is perfectly adapted to the shape of your fingertips.

Enjoy the liberty of wireless connection

Thanks to its Bluetooth® interface, BRAILLEX Trio is independent from any connection cables. Within a range of 10 meters (33 ft), BRAILLEX Trio can communicate with other Bluetooth devices.

With BRAILLEX Trio you won't care where the computer is you want to access. In a classroom or a conference, you face your dialog partners without having a PC in between. Or in a more private situation, you can sit on your deck in the summer with the computer inside the house, and you still have full access to your data. The integrated Braille keyboard along with the Bluetooth interface makes this possible.
Other than with a PC, you can also use BRAILLEX Trio to access off-the-shelf PDAs and mobile phones as long as those have an appropriate screen reader program.

Braillex Trio - The Multi-Purpose Refreshable Braille ToolBRAILLEX Trio is easy to use!

We already talked about the intuitive way you navigate with BRAILLEX Trio thanks to the Easy Access Bar. When using a PC, the unique Papenmeier user interface concentrates all relevant Braille related screen reader settings in menus that appear both on the screen and in Braille when you press one of the keys left and right of the Braille display. Most of the cryptic special key combinations belong to the past.

BRAILLEX Trio is versatile!

Even if your computer is out of reach: You can use BRAILLEX Trio as a basic notetaker as well. With 20 hours battery life (10 when using the Bluetooth port) and a text memory equivalent to 4000 Braille pages, you jot down your ideas wherever you are, or read a book in the train for example.

The internal functions of BRAILLEX Trio also include a calculator, clock and calendar.

Use the provided communications program to transfer data from BRAILLEX Trio to a PC and vice versa. The transfer includes forward and backward grade 2 translation if desired.

Profit from more than 30 years' experience in refreshable Braille!
